Syzygy: Creating a Community Event Series for Women
Syzygy is a community for self-identified women in Toronto with the mission of creating spaces for sisterhood and personal growth. Gathering seasonally throughout the year, the events focus on relevant themes like feminism, identity, self-care, and body image. As founders, we recognized the need for a women-driven social community that would facilitate meaningful dialogue and networking for a diverse community. As experienced program facilitators and storytellers, we launched Syzygy in 2017. The community has developed its reputation of providing rare offline experiences that foster genuine connection. So far, we’ve created 20+ partnerships with women-driven businesses and invited an array of speakers, performers, and artists to join us at each gathering.
As co-founder, I have led in the community’s creative partnerships, sponsorships, event programming, web design and on-going business development. To date, we have partnered with prominent local brands like Bite Beauty, MISFITSTUDIO and Greenhouse Juice Co. and have featured speakers and artists like Kenzie Brenna, Tahsin The Good, and LIZ LOKRE.
“I attended the first Syzygy gathering in May 2017. It was an awakening experience where I felt completely at ease and the most authentic I had felt in a long time. The people, the discussion, the space, the connections. It's an unparalleled vibe. I left not only completely moved, but enlightened and hopeful for what the future held.”
